Photo of the Day: Welcome

Welcome

Last night, I got the chance to practice my event photography (picture not related). It was a really great event with the local arts awareness group, Artreach! Sarah Hickman was the guest of honor, and a real treat to photograph. She's one of those people that just goes nonstop, and always has something funny or interesting to say.

Before that, I took this photo. It involved a special trick with my tripod to pull it off, and I'm really quite pleased with the results! No major Photoshop processing on this one, it's pretty much straight out of camera. Amazing what light can do in the right conditions, huh?

(P.S. The exif data is lying; no flash was used. I'm not sure why it's claiming that it was, either.)

It's Girl Scout Cookie season! We've gotten several deliveries worth (including my favorites, any of the shortbreads, yum).

The weather's been gorgeous here the last couple of days, so I've been spending the time not at work out doors or exercising. Spring is on its way, and hopefully we won't get any more freak temperature drops (seriously; 20°F just isn't natural for Houston). I'm looking forward to the warmer weather, and more chances for taking photos outside.

Have any of you started making spring-time plans? Mini-vacations or long weekend trips?

So I'm back! Sort of. I'll probably still be really sporadic, but I'll be working on it. My new job is a lot of fun, and the people there are super laid back. I'm still searching for full-time employment with better pay, but this place isn't so bad. They had me work 32 hours when I was originally only scheduled 0. ;)

I've got a lot of shots I really enjoy the last few weeks, so at least I'll have photos for the daily postin' and can get back to commenting on everyone else's things. I went to a photo meet-up both last week and this week. One was at the Forbidden Gardens (which is where the horse is from; the place is closing down) and one was at a local park.

Also, I'm trying to do at least two photos a day that I think are worthy of upload. It's not quite a 365 project, since I'm not yet holding myself to the "EVERYDAYUPLOAD!" rule, but the result is pretty similar.

I also got a few photos done for the actual "article" style posts I've been working on. Hopefully, you'll all enjoy them when they finally get up!

Brief Hiatus

Hey there! Remember me?

Yeah, I vanished for a bit. I know. It's good though, I promise. Continuing from my last post, I was hired on the spot after the interview. I've worked every day this week (though I wasn't on the schedule) and may have another job interview coming up in a few days.

Things are starting to turn around, but this means that I'll have to rearrange my time a bit, and get organized. I'll be back to posting regularly in no time, but until then, I'll be rather quiet.

Thanks everyone for the well-wishing! I appreciate it!
